Built a new PC today. First x264 encoding test run under way. Seeing some rather nice FPS rates and the CPU seems to overclock very nicely without any special cooling gear.

I’m thinking about building Gainestown system myself to replace my 2 x Opteron dual-core.
Gainestown is a dual-core cpu, right? Why not go for quad?
I thought Xeon 55xx was Gainestown:

And I was planning to build dual X5550.
Though, even single Nehalem would beat my current dual Opteron systems in most applications.
