DTS-HD Master Audio decoding comes to PS3 on April 15th.

Yes, finally! According to various sources and a press release by DTS themselves, your trusty PlayStation 3 will be able to internally decode DTS-HD Master Audio encoded soundtracks into multichannel PCM. Note, however, that the press release does not mention DTS-HD High Resolution at all. So don’t expect the PS3 firmware upgrade released on April 15th to enable HR decoding as well. HR is not a subset of MA, but a separate codec altogether, thus needing a software decoder of its own. That little niggle aside, this is grand news indeed for movie loving PS3 owners everywhere. Update 11.4.: Eric Lempel posts on the Official PlayStation Blog that firmware 2.30 will also enable DTS-HD High Resolution decoding. Nice one.
